We are delighted to team up in partnership with Dave Turner of Turnaround Safety © who will be running First Aid courses for Parents, Nannies, and Grandparents.

Turnaround Safety are experienced in training Parents, Grandparents, Nannies, Au pairs, etc. in emergency first aid aimed at treating both children and adults in the event of an accident or injury.


Family First Aid

Family First Aid is a first aid awareness course designed specifically for Carers, Parents, Grandparents or Guardians of Children & Infants.

Family First Aid is a specially designed 2.5-hour class which will teach you the basic life saving techniques to act quickly in the event of an Infant or Toddler first aid emergency.

The main topics covered are –

  • Applying CPR for Choking in infants & toddler
  • Techniques for dealing with Choking in infants & toddlers,
  • Asthma
  • Burns & Scalds,
  • Infantile convulsions
  • Fractures & Sprains,
  • Meningitis & various childhood illnesses & ailments
  • Calling the Emergency Services and what information to use

All coupled together in an interactive, informative, and open session.

TurnAround safety run Family First Aid classes across all Kildare, Carlow, Kilkenny & Dublin in local venues, at times that suit busy family life or is available on one to one in the family home.

Class size kept to 12 learners per class (smaller classes due to COVID-19).

Paediatric First Aid

This course is designed to provide nannies and childcare practitioners working with training in First Aid for children, while providing support to the Occupational First Aider (OFA or PHECC FAR) within an organisation dealing with childcare or child supervision. This is a one-day course.

Anybody working in childcare is advised to do this course. Certification is valid for 2 years.

Training Objectives

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  1. Describe and demonstrate Paediatric First Aid
  2. Describe the responsibilities of a First Aider
  3. Understand and demonstrate essential lifesaving skills
  4. Identify and administer first aid to Medical and Trauma Emergencies
  5. Identify risks to children in the home or workplace

  2. Responsibilities of a First Aider
  3. CPR for Children and Infants
  4. AED for adults and children
  5. How to react in an Emergency
  6. Child and Infant Choking
  7. Bleeding First Aid
  8. Dealing with unconscious Children and Infants
  9. Febrile Seizures, Epilepsy, Diabetes and Asthma
  10. Meningitis
  11. Poisoning
  12. Fractures and soft tissue injuries
  13. Burns First Aid
  14. Head Injuries and Eye Injuries
  15. Slapped Cheek
  16. Hand, Foot and Mouth
